Eco-Friendly

Natural Wood Flooring is eco-friendly and fantastic for the environment.

Timeless

Wooden Flooring is always in fashion, and always has been. It really is timeless and can make your home incredibly unique.

Floor restoration process

We begin by sanding the top layer of the floor. This process allows us to remove any dents or marks from the surface. The sand depth and grade of the paper will depend on the condition of the floor and the depth of the scratches. Whatever condition your floor is in, we will be able to achieve fantastic results. Our 98% dust-free machines will ensure that the sanding of your floor leaves a smooth, flawless and beautiful finish.

Finishing techniques

Once your floor has been sanded, we will finish the surface to a high standard. We can varnish, stain, or oil your wooden floor using a colour of your choice. Many people decide to use a clear varnish in order to allow the natural beauty of your floor to shine through. The choice is yours. Whatever you choose, we work to achieve a stunning finish every time which seals and protects your floor for years to come.

'As Good as new' with Floor Restoration

Wooden floors are very versatile and durable. Even if you think your floor is beyond saving, you won’t believe the difference sanding your floor can make. We can roll back the years and leave you with a floor which is as good as new. If you ever wanted to change the colour of your floor, or modify the finish, this is a great opportunity to do just that.

The time it takes to lay a wooden floor very much depends on the type of flooring you have chosen and the size of the room in question.

Generally speaking, we can complete the installation of your wooden floor in a day or two.

We will advise you accordingly on how long your project is likely to take when we have been able to visit you and assess what’s required.

Cleaning a wood floor is simple.

Start by making sure that you sweep with a soft-bristled broom or microfibre mop regularly, then clean the floor periodically using a professional wood floor cleaning product.

We can recommend an appropriate product for your chosen type of floor, just ask.

Other tips:

Use mats in doorways to prevent debris from scratching the floor.
Do not use a wet or steam mop on a wood floor
Immediately wipe up any spills using a slightly dampened cloth
Use felt protectors under furniture legs to prevent scratches and scuffs
When moving furniture, pick it up rather than sliding it

All engineered wood and solid wood flooring need an expansion gap around the perimeter of the room.

We use decorative scotia to cover the gap without needing to remove the skirting. Scotia comes in a variety of colours and is available with a lacquered, veneered or laminated finish.

Unfinished versions are also available. We will help you to find the right beading to suit your floor.

Using underfloor heating beneath wooden floors does present problems due to the varying temperatures the floor will be subjected to. Solid wood floors are therefore not suitable for use with underfloor heating unless specified by the manufacturer.

Engineered wood flooring is less prone to movement and can usually be used with underfloor heating systems. This is because the boards comprise a minimum of three layers of wood and the grain of the middle layers runs at right angles to the outer layers.

Direct sunlight is a problem for hardwood floors. If you move a rug to discover that the floor underneath is lighter or darker than the surrounding wood, this is most likely to have been caused by sunlight.

The fading, bleaching, or darkening of hardwood floors is caused by overexposure to UV light, visible light and infrared light. UV light has the biggest impact on the colour change of real wood. You can do a few things to minimise the effect of sunlight, which include:

Rearranging your furniture regularly to even out the fading process
Use curtains, shutters or blinds to defend against UV and infrared light
Apply a UV & IT light inhibiting window film to your windows
There is no way to completely avoid exposure to UV and infrared light. What you can do is reduce the amount of damaging light your floor is exposed to and balance the amount of light which reaches each part of the floor to ensure that it fades evenly.
